The Art Of Beautiful Cross-Stitch Made Easy

To create cross stitch designs, use 14 count Aida cloth. White or ivory are good choices for beginners. Cross stitch can be accomplished by stitching one way across the cloth, then back in the opposite direction. The alternative is to make each stitch individually. Both ways are acceptable as long as the stitches all go in the same direction.
